On March 31st, 2025, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, became a beacon of legacy, service, and vision as the institution celebrated a monumental day coinciding with the punyatithi of Shri O.P. Jindal Ji, fondly remembered as Bauji. The occasion was marked by the unveiling of the grand statue of Maharaja Agrasen Ji by the Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, in the esteemed presence of Hon'ble Haryana Chief Minister, Shri Nayab Saini.
For me, this day was not just another milestone but a heartfelt tribute to my father’s enduring vision. My father, Shri O.P. Jindal Ji, was one of the chief architects behind the establishment of Maharaja Agrasen Medical College in 1988. His dream was simple, yet profound—he envisioned Agroha as a place where healthcare and medical education would be both affordable and accessible. Today, his dream stands tall, not only in the form of a magnificent statue of Maharaja Agrasen Ji but also through the transformative work that this medical institution has achieved and continues to carry forward. The statue, towering with dignity, now symbolizes the spirit of service, equality, and community upliftment that both Maharaja Agrasen Ji and my father envisioned for Agroha.
The day began with the unveiling of the statue—a powerful representation of values that have always been close to our hearts. This act was followed by the inauguration of a state-of-the-art ICU unit and the laying of the foundation stone for a new PG Hostel, ensuring better living and learning facilities for students and medical professionals alike.
In a move that solidifies Agroha’s position as a hub of medical excellence, a proposal for a new Multi-Specialty Hospital at Agroha was also approved. This development will significantly increase the capacity of the institution, bringing specialized medical care closer to the people of Haryana and neighboring regions.
What truly resonates with me, however, is the history of this institution. Maharaja Agrasen Medical College has, for decades, embodied the spirit of giving. Each day, it provides free and affordable healthcare to over 3000 patients, serving as a lifeline for those in need. With 700 beds, an advanced ICU and NICU, and departments offering MBBS, MD, Nursing, and Physiotherapy programs, it has set a model for healthcare institutions across the country. Bauji’s belief that quality healthcare and education should not be a privilege but a fundamental right has been the guiding force behind this institution. As I spoke during the event, I reflected on how his dream had transformed into reality: “This institution is a living embodiment of Bauji’s belief,” I said. And it truly is—a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service.
Looking forward, the future of Agroha is even brighter. The plans for a Cancer Specialty Center, in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital and Ajanta Pharma, promise to position Agroha as one of the most advanced healthcare hubs in North India. These initiatives are a part of the larger vision to bring cutting-edge medical care closer to the people who need it the most.
The presence of eminent leaders like Shri Amit Shah and Shri Nayab Saini underscores the importance of Agroha’s mission on a national scale. Their support highlights the government's commitment to improving healthcare and education across the country, especially in rural and underserved areas.
As the day came to a close and the sun set over Agroha, what remained was not just the image of the grand statue, but a palpable sense of pride, purpose, and promise. It was a moment to reflect on the past, to honor the vision of Maharaja Agrasen Ji and my father, and to look ahead to the incredible impact this institution will continue to make in the lives of countless people.
Maharaja Agrasen Medical College is not just a place of healing; it is a living, breathing symbol of hope, and with each passing day, it moves closer to fulfilling the dreams of those who believed in it. It is and will always be,a legacy of service—a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
